1. The Setup

Dante Hicks is a clerk at the Quick Stop, a local convenience store in Leonardo, New Jersey. On his day off, his boss calls him in to cover a few hours for another employee who is sick. Arriving at the store, the security shutters are jammed closed, so Dante hangs a blanket over them with a message in shoe polish: “I assure you; we’re open.”

2. Inciting Incident

Once inside, he must deal with multiple problems. His girlfriend Veronica, who bugs him about starting college, has revealed certain, stuff about her past sexual exploits. This unnerves Dante even more, the then from this point remindes people that he was not even suppost to be here today.He has a hockey game at 2 o’clock. Veronica leaves for class

Randall finally arives to take up his post at the local RSD video store next to to the quick stop, but insted chooses to annoy the custemers at the quick stop(and Dante). As Dante tells Randel about the mornings events with Veronica, Randal see’s an advertasment for Catlen Bree(Bree to wed asian design major), One of Dante’s ex girlfriends, who dante has been convercing over the phone with recently, he has not herd the news and is confused as to why she had not told him during one of his conversations over the phone.

3. Act one turning point

Randall finally arives to take up his post at the local RSD video store next to to the quick stop, but insted chooses to annoy the custemers at the quick stop(and Dante). As Dante tells Randel about the mornings events with Veronica, Randal see’s an advertasment for Catlen Bree(Bree to wed asian design major), One of Dante’s ex girlfriends, who dante has been convercing over the phone with recently, he has not herd the news and is confused as to why she had not told him during one of his conversations over the phone. he feels lied to by Catlen. Randel then sells smokes to a girl.

4. Mid point

Randel tells Dante to vent his frustration on the customers to loosen up a bit more as Dante gets to worked up after a “shitty customer”

Veronica returns, droping of lasanga for Dante’s lunch, Dante’s boss has not turned up at 12 like he said so Dante looks after the store still,veronica goes back to class and and says she will be back when Dante get of work. Dante calls his boss and finds out he has left for Vermont.

Randal (and a customer passing through) gives another lecture to Dante about suppressing rage, Randel states that Dante says sorry when the problem its not even his fault. the hockey game is coming up, and Dante cant leave the Quickstop, Dante then has the idea of bringing the game to the store instead. the team then arrive at the store, and Dante closes the store as the play on the roof of the two stores.

a disgruntled customer (just wanting to buy cigarets) askes if they could fininsh up and get back to work, being told to wait bu Dante he then makes remarkes about how Dante is playing, Dante then gets the cusomer to join there game, as the ball is thrown down, the customer pushes Dante on to the ground, and lines up his shot, the customer hits the ball hard and far ,sending the ball in to a drain. dante askes if there is another ball. not able to fine another ball dante and randel return to the store, with the game cut short.

5. Act two turning point

an old man asks if he may use the toilets and along with that some soft toilet paper and a porno magaziene.

Randel tells Dante that Julie dwyer died ( an ex girlfriend of Dante’s) Dante says he will attend it, randel says he will not be able to because the last time for the wake will be at 4 o’clock. Dante then says he will close the shop and go but will not bring Randel, Randel then replyes that he is going to go as it “will be the social event of the season” so Dante finaly desides to bring Randel along, closing for an hour.

Five minutes in, after they enter, they are seen running away from the wake, with a small mob after them. they finaly arrive back at the Quickstop and are still talking about what happend at the wake. Dante now back behind the counter, unsuccesfully gives a lecture about title dictating behaviour, Randel states that title does not dictate bahaviour, he leaves to go rent a movie from the video store down the road (as it has a better collection of movies than the RSD store that he works at.

6. Act Three Turning point

Dante is issued a fine for selling cigarets to a minor(as it was believed that Dante sold the item and not Randel. Catlen arrives at the Quickstop to explain her side of the story,(with everyone else knowing aboutthe wedding and not dante) as she knew that Dante was going to be in a bit of a mess. Catlen explains that she does not want to go throught with the wedding as she wants to live her life and work a carrier( she states that she could not to that if she married the asian design major.) Dante askes if they could try to date again, and if the could met up later on. Catlen then goes home to change and tell her mum about the seperation. Randel retunes, Dante shows him the fine he got for selling smokes, Randal enquiers why he is not being yelled at, Dante replyes that he is happy as he is going on a date with catlen.  he tells randel that he will have to lock up, Dante goes home to change before Catlen returns.

7. Resolution and Denouement

Catlen returns to the Quickstop with Randal watching his movie. catlen then uses the toilet,with broken lights so no one can see when your inside. Dante returns after some time, Catlen returns from the toilet ,with a big grin. she then cuddles up with Dante, and talks about how she had such a good time with Dante just then in the toilet with no lights. Dante proclames that he was not the man in there and it could not have been him.

Dante goes in to conversation, first listing all of the probles he ahs had to deal with then about how he cannot motivate himself to change his circustances in life and will rather just let events happen as  they are, instead of trying to change.

Randel returns to the RSD, and veronica is seen along the way,Randel breakes to her the news of dante and catlen’s new relationship. Jay and silent bob state that going back to catlen is a stupid mistake as “there are a million hot women out there, most dont bring lasaga to you at work, they just cheat on you. Dante see’s bob’s point.

Veronica storms over to the quickstop and breaks up with Dante, Dante finds out it was Randal, so when Randel returns, they have a brawl in the store, knocking over items in the process. afterward Randel explains that he was only trying to help Dante. and that they are both pathetic at ther jobs and Dante is even more pathertic as he is passing on the blame to everyone else for the day he has had. afterwards they clean up the store and lock up, resolving there diferences.

the red dust’s opening sceens, enforced on some key elements early on, to set the scene at seting  of the film and what whould be in store

there was allot of images of african life, and its struggles in everyday life, with sybals of apartide, famine and towns made of sheetmetal.

there was of course a large amout of red in every camera shot, red being a colour that is tied with many things, passsion, lust, blood and gore, it is no doubt that red is a very passionate colour, in the movie it semes to be used very harshly.

lady walks to a grosery stand  with the camera shot from behind the mechant, the mechant sells a bag of peaches, this bag is filled to the brim, lady then spills the bag, as she fumbles for her purse.

camera then follows one of the peaches

camera sits acrros the road and watches as the peach is roling on the the road then is ran over by a car going past

The acmi exhibition had a wide range of interesting pieces on display detaling the effort and time consuming pre production efforts that go into a movie.

These can range from models or scaled models to storyboards and maps, and even pieces of sets, the largest being a piece of set from Australia the baz luman film released at the end of last year.

The exhibition featured  small flat screens and 3 big screens showing various clips from movies and or film from the editing process showing show the movies 30worth of digital effect was implemented it to the film  this was only a small inside look at how they did what they did, not enough information was there to show how to recreate it for yourself(aside from the matrix exhibit, which even show how they did the slomo event when neo doges bullets for the first time, by showing the screens at the same time giving the same 5 second clip repeated next to each other to compare)

it was less enjoyable to analyse as there was not enough information to digest on a particular topic, it was all to broad and was covering a wide range in the development of film making, but only just skimming the surface.

This movie show that there is a need for the small details and for some to be pointed out within a frame, but also showing that the frame does not need to be cluttered of even filled, I found the move was enjoyable and was not like the normal crap that is thrown out of Hollywood but it still is not a great movie. The movie was enjoyable more to a target audience, as it was more enjoyable to fans of the frank miller empire. Visual effects were show to not make the film good even when using as much as the movie did. The move had its own philosophical meaning do deceiver behind its minimal storyline and plot development; it was simple and effective to an extent if placed into the right context

I overall enjoyed the movie and analysing it all the way through, this movie would be enjoyable to find out how it was created, ie production techniques, post editing, as it would give an inside into this new style of film making as a hole, and allow more understanding of the films created
